<div dir="ltr"><div>Pre-running is an aspect of hardcore off-road racing. Pre-runners are part of the support crew for an off-road racing team and often run the course prior to the actual racing vehicle. That said, mag mount antennas will be the very first thing torn off the vehicle. Any decent dual-band VHF/UHF radio will work, but will be barely adequate! Rugged mil-spec type radios will work better! Antenna mounts should be permanent and provision for a backup spare antenna in case of roll-over should be a consideration as well. Installation should be pretty straight forward as long as provisions are made for bulletproof mounting of radio and antenna! These types of vehicles are subject to massive vibration and intense pounding - install accordingly!!!</div><div><br></div><div>To get a rugged enough radio, it may be necessary to go to single band radios like the Kenwood TM-281 or similar ruggedized mil-spec radios.</div><div><br></div><div>Pre-runners are essentially specially built task specific off-road racing vehicles!!!</div><div><br></div><div>7 3</div><div>Jeff Moore -- KE7ACY</div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Mon, Jul 15, 2019 at 9:56 PM Angela Guthrie <<a href="mailto:1of2for4@gmail.com">1of2for4@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="auto">Ok.
