I didn't get to chat with you but I did get the opportunity to chat with your son briefly. Since you live in Seattle also, I figured I'd mention a couple of things that you might find interesting. First of all, you should be in the range of one or more repeaters in Seattle that are part of the Evergreen Intertie. At one point, you could get on a repeater in Seattle and talk into Oregon and Northern California. I'm pretty sure the system is mostly still intact and operational. At one point, there were something like 50 to 75 repeaters linked all together. Not sure where it is at these days, but it is mostly still there!!.</div><div><br></div><div>Second, and something that I only found out about around 6 months ago (it's been around for a few years but it is still growing) is the extensive network of DMR (a digital voice mode) repeaters. The PNW-DMR network is easily the size and number of the Evergreen Intertie and covers much of the same area. There are two DMR repeaters in our local area here that link into either the PNW-DMR network via the Oregon SAR network or the Brandmeister DMR network(worldwide reach). HiDARG used to have a link into the Oregon Connection which had linkage into the Evergreen Intertie, but the Hoodoo Butte repeater was removed from the Oregon Connection a while back and became the link for the Peak Radio Assoc with a link into the Cline Butte repeater locally. I don't think they have a connection to the EI, but I could be wrong.
