So I looked up the length calculation for a folded dipole, about 9ft, and cut the 450 ohm ladder line for that. Added the 300 ohm feed and connected it to my existing home made 4-1 current balun. Had to trim off about 1.5 inches on each end in order to tune to the middle of the band once I got it up to 10 to 12 ft.</div><div dir="auto">It has an SWR across the band of 1.5 to 2 and I think that is due to the balun output of 200 ohm to the antenna 300 ohm impedance mismatch. I need a 6-1 balun or a matching network. The IC-7300 is happy with it and I got good signal reports today so maybe I'll not worry about it. </div><div dir="auto">I could hang it vertically and I'd need some sort of support to get the feed line perpendicular to the antenna. </div><div dir="auto">Sunday, if I can set it up, I'll try an A-B test with the sleeved dipole I used last week. The horizontal antenna has about half the background noise of the vert (2 vs 5 S units). </div><div dir="auto">73,</div><div dir="auto">Kent AF7QO</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto"> </div><br><br><div class="gmail_quote" dir="auto"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sat, Mar 28, 2020, 7:31 PM Jeff Moore <<a href="mailto:tnetcenter@gmail.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">tnetcenter@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>Nice and simple! A 450 ohm ladder line folded dipole fed with 300 ohm ladder line. There is a 4 to 1 current balun behind the fence.
