<span>While I was one of those who encouraged the idea of continuing the weekly tech net even after Wednesday lunch meetings resumed, I have to admit that I have been disappointed at the minimal activity of the tech net of late.  While I have also failed to
 post questions, it is not because I think that I know everything but that I don't usually have a burning question at the top of my mind.  At the same time, I want the tech net to continue because I enjoy learning from the questions of others and occasionally
 can contribute an answer.  Perhaps most others have the same attitude; but no questions, no learning.<br>

<div>I'd like to raise the following possibility for discussion:  <br>

<div>Using HIDARG Shack, allow members to post not only a specific question but suggestions for a TOPIC.  That way, net control might have a list of questions to bring to the net each week, not just solicit them on the air.  However, the big difference would
 be regarding the TOPICS.  From the list of posted TOPIC issues, any member could volunteer to do a reasonably brief talk on that topic.  The volunteer would inform net control of the topic and date in advance so they could be called on by net control.  Of
 course, the talk would have to be broken to allow for repeater timeout.  A 10 or 15 minute presentation on a topic would be informative and probably stimulate more specific questions.  If net control wanted to request a particular member to address a topic
 that the member was experienced with, all the better.<br>

<div>An example might be modulation:  What actually happens and goes out on the air with CW, AM, USB, LSB, and FM (narrow and wide)?  So many new hams use only FM and would benefit from knowing about other modes available when upgrading their license.  Different
 digital modes might form an entirely separate topic, etc.<br>

<div>I would encourage all members to check in to next Thursday's tech net at 12 noon on the HIDARG repeater network and contribute their comments.</div>
