I joined your group several months ago however circumstances have yet to allow me the time to attend the online meetings. So, I thought I’d introduce myself. </font></p>
<p style="margin: 0px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><font size="4">After 41 years in Portland, my wife and I moved to Bend recently to be closer to our 2 year old grandson. In Portland I was active in the citywide Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) program, called CERT elsewhere. Through involvement in NET, a long dormant interest in amateur radio was reawakened. I availed myself of NET’s robust training program for most aspects of VHS/UHF amateur radio operations, especially in emergency situations. I also joined Multnomah County ARES, and completed my ARRO certification just before the pandemic shutdown. I’ve served as net control numerous times on NET and MC ARES weekly nets and on regional simplex exercises. I’m WinLink certified, but not yet Vara. I have two HTs, a Kenwood 710g I use as a base and an ICOM 7300 for 6m and HF. Nothing is set up yet, and I’ll have to figure out my antenna options, now that I’m in an HOA for the first time. </font></p>
