Local Ham license testing is done by a group of Volunteer Examiners headed by Joe Barry -- K7SQ.

Joe can be reached at 541-385-3152 or email him - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Tests are normally given at the Bend Public Library but other locations are sometimes used so please contact Joe for details and schedules. They are typically given once a month but again you should contact Joe for any changes to the schedule. Prior to showing up for the test you must go onto the FCC Website and register. That will get you the FRN number needed for your paperwork to take the test.  If you have a lower class license and are wanting to upgrade be sure to bring a copy of your existing FCC license and the original. See below on what to bring.......If you pass a test you can take the next level test making it possible to take all three levels in one test session. You can also retake a test. For each test OR retake you must pay an additional test session fee.  Arrangements can be made for any special needs, as well as for dates and times.    DONT FORGET TO APPLY FOR YOUR FRN number from the FCC. About Us

We are a group of amateur radio operators who live in the Oregon High Desert. This plain extends from the Cascade Mountains east into Idaho, North to and past the Columbia River and South into Nevada and California. We are interested in having fun with all the varied facets of this hobby. We support many local events and our primary mission is public service to our community, the hams in the area and the Region 7 Hospital Group.

HiDARG maintains a system of linked repeaters that cover most of Central and parts of Eastern Oregon into the John Day and Burns area. This enables an extensive area with communications via our network of open repeaters covering a lot of the High Desert. Each of the repeaters are linked together which allows ham radio communications access across this area. In times of emergency these systems will allow various remote areas of the state to stay in contact with each other.

It is important to us to encourage others to engage in this hobby through licensing new hams, training, public activities, and helping licensed hams get on the air.

Our members interests range from making DX contacts, Packet, PSK-31, satellite contacts, CW, ATV, emergency communications, and we arew very focused with new technologies as they develop.

We will help you get licensed and on the air. Contact us if you have any interest in Amateur Radio! Don't forget to check out our ham cram class schedule.
