COMMENTS From the Survey
I think HiDARG repeaters do a good job covering our area. Can’t wait for the Powell Butte to be up and going.

it is not always clear to me which nets are open to non-members.

i like the repeater system. i am active on 6m as well so a 6m repeater might be nice, not necessary though, if only to give a different option for emergency comms.

I'm so busy in retirement I don't have much time for radio fun or meetings....

There is increasing use of digital voice modes such as Fusion, DMR, and D*Star. Not so much usage on P25 or NXDN although there is a lot of potential for those modes considering their use in Public Safety.

Most of the time the repeaters are fairly quiet. When I do hear activity I try to jump in and chat. What may be helpful to users would be to add a note to the repeaters on the website about how they can be used. I.e. ok to rag chew, should only be used for short contacts, ARES use only, etc. That information could help new hams understand what repeaters to use and when.
(None of the HiDARG repeaters are restricted for use, and all open to all hams to use as the see fit, under FCC rules and Repeater protocal)

This survey forces an answer when I don't know how to answer . Please disregard my answers to #5 and #6 as they were answered without knowing what they mean.

I need to improve my antenna to be able to reach more repeaters in our area. I need a yagi and rotor.

There don’t seem to be many people around who will respond to a call from someone they don’t know, which has been a trend for years.

Thanks for helping to support numerous systems.

Patiently waiting on Powell Butte DMR

I'm in a fringe area (Sunriver/Three Rivers) the HIDARG repeaters work great most of the time -- but Long Butte is dependent on the weather and has had its moments. Thanks so much for keeping these running.

Sorry for the late responses. Thanks for sending out the survey.

The information or fun nets are great. They're really inviting for folks to join in. An old fahioned ARES type drill once in awhile could be helpful? Maybe a Skywarn drill? They have some training coming up.

Still learning, everything is very interesting to me.

I am happy to speak to friends and strangers if available while monitoring.

My needs are well met, with good coverage for the areas and modes I operate with. Of course, I find blind spots and erratic signals at times, but they are rare and of little significance.

Digital modes are seldom used at this time in South County except for Winlink. AA1JW is working toward linking Walker and Spring Butte which will greatly facilitate EMCOMM between Bend and South County.
