HiDARG has a need (for some years now) to document and formalize our
committee structure.
With the "ham Elmer" project, spearheaded by Chris KI7OLR this has helped
expose the
need to document and to start formalizing our primary committees in HiDARG
so
that folks have some idea of where and how they can help and where their
interest lies.
We have some non-documented policies and some "loose" structure to how we
manage and form our various committees and tasks.
I am listing our current ones below, and I am sure I missed a few.
This is my understanding of how our committee policy has more of less worked
in the past.
Legacy members may be aware or have heard other ideas or non-documented
policy's that have been implemented.
It would be nice to have that info and direction to ensure we have
flexibility and ensure things run smooth.
The only real goal is to help divide the load for the various projects,
commitments, and activities we
may be engaged in from time to time, and get a sense of those members that
can bring ideas to the rest
of the members and help get things done.
Committee:
Helps organize and implement events, policies, procedures, help, etc
pertaining to that committee role.
Committee Chair(s):
Team leader for the committee, helps organize the members, work assignments.
Reports back to the board and members, current progress of the committee's
tasks.
Can be at least one more member in the committee helping the chair with
various tasks that may be required. IE Chair assistant.
Bring any issues to the attention of the members and board that may need to
be addressed.
Committee Members:
Those HiDARG members who have a particular stake in that committees area or
an interest in
helping out. Members can be part of and help out with as many committees as
they feel comfortable with.
This can be labor, research, evaluation, testing, maintenance, advise,
technical expertise.
Board Overview:
Member of the board on that committee.
Each committee must have a board member as part of its structure, and a
backup member to help out if the other board
member is not available. They can help field questions, report to other
board members, request funds that the committee may
need to accomplish their goals. This will ensure that the committee is
operating under board approval and supervision.
Committee Structure:
HiDARG members be on and serve on one or more committees, and serve as chair
on one or more committees.
Members are only expected to help when and where they can, there is no "You
have to show up here and do such and such"
It is more like "We could use help from folks to show up here on etc, and do
etc etc."
Some committees, may be formed to fill a need and be dissolved when that
need is met.
I am currently working on the details of our committees that need to be
formalized.
Below are the current sub details are our most current ones, some active,
some not so much.
There are others I may have missed.
I will assign members to various rolls as I understand them in the current
structure.
We will have some further discussion at the March Thurs Night meeting here
in only two days.
Members wishing to opt-into or out of any committee role are free to do so.
The other thing is that we DO NOT want to create a bureaucratic system where
we become non-functional.
This is only to lay out who has what responsibilities, so that both older
and newer members
have some direction when wanting to help out.
HiDARG Committees:
1. Repeater
2. Bend Hospital Station
3. Tower Project
4. Trailer Project
5. Education
6. Testing
7. HamWan
8. ARES
9. NETS
10. Website / Email
11. Field Day
12. Elmer Coordination
13. Event Support
14. DC Fair
15. Projects (A number of come and go things to do during the year.)
If you have a particular interest and want to help out on any of these, or
have
ideas for some I may have overlooked. (very possible) let me know before 1pm
Thursday March 1st.
Or at the Thurs Meeting would be fine.
