Importance: High

Hi Mike,

We will operate the ham radios for WX7PDT on Friday December 6th from
4:00 PM to midnight and on Saturday December 7th from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Those are the operating hours that I specified when I registered the
Pendleton WFO for SRD and those are the operating hours for WFO PDT that
are posted on the SRD website.

A work team will help set up two portable antennas on an antenna mast
system on the south side of the office starting around 1:00 PM
Thursday. One antenna is an inverted-V HF antenna,. The other antenna
is a VHF 2-Meter omnidirectional vertical antenna. Hams will not set up
their own portable radios and antennas at the office for SRD.

I'll bring the Amateur Radio Go Box containing two portable radios into
the conference room Friday afternoon around 1:00 PM. Friday afternoon,
we will connect the radios in the Go Box to the coaxial cables for the
two portable antennas that will have been set up Thursday afternoon. I
will also bring a laptop computer to the conference room Friday
afternoon from the ODOT Strategic Technology Reserves (STR) Amateur
Radio Kit. We will use the laptop computer to communicate with several
NWS Offices via email transmitted on ham radio HF frequencies. We can
do this because the Go Box has a MODEM, which converts digital signals
to analog signals, and vice versa, with the MODEM connected to the
laptop and the HF radio that's in the Go Box.

I will have a sign-in/sign-out sheet in the lobby to keep track of the
hams' visiting hours.

The SRD website shows the NWS offices which are registered to
participate in the event: https://www.weather.gov/crh/skywarnrecognition

Thanks.
