I agree that we all should vet this kind of alarming “news.”
However, such outlandish, irrational and alarming decisions are becoming more and more common by California and other elected officials. It is not surprising that so many hams “bought” into this fake story.

This fake story has been SO debunked, even by the state of CA at this point after being contacted by upset hams that didn’t bother to do an fact checking. The most interesting thing about it is how so many gullible people who want to support such an idea automatically pass this stuff along with absolutely NO fact checking from credible sources. Just like the fake stuff generated by Russia’s Internet Research Agency and planted on their thousands of social media sites was picked up and passed along to the point of becoming “viral during the 2016 election campaign, and still so now leading up to the 2020 campaign. Hams are *supposed* to be practicing technology grounded in science, which suggests that we are supposed to be better than average about being skeptical of wild claims and doing at least some fact-checking. Let’s end this stupid thread.
