I just received an email from RadioID.net - they are the North American
registrar for DMR IDs. AS of 12/19/2020, RadioID.net will merge with
Ham-Digital (another DMR registrar that concentrates primarily on the EU
and Africa). This is occurring because the owner of Ham-Digital is
retiring from the business and RadioID.net has agreed to become in essence
the world-wide Registrar for DMR, NXDN, and a few other digital voice
modes.
If you have an account with RadioID you will have received a similar
message, IF you obtained your DMR ID # from some other source, you will
need to check with them to ensure your ID # is registered. There is no
charge to register, I believe they are asking for a subscription if you
want to use their Contact list resources for custom digital contact lists.
Given that the database of DMR users is increasing, More and more of us
will need to use abbreviated Contact lists as our radios are approaching
the limits of our contact list size, so keep all of this in mind when
dealing with DMR.
