Best advice I can offer folks that have the newer FT-70D’s is to be sure you talk directly into the radio about 2inches away.

OR talk across the face of the radio while holding one side against your mouth, IE what you normally do when mobile and talking

into the mike….talk across the mike not into the mike.

When doing events however and using my HT, I use an external speaker mike, so I don’t have to keep picking up the radio

I seem to recall a comment about my low audio during one of the Tuesday night repeater nets shortly after I bought the radio. I didn't make any adjustments, and I haven't heard any further complaints. Maybe I'll try to check in this Tuesday evening and you can give me an appraisal.

The party line being handed down is that when doing analog, have your mic-gain set up high

when doing digital modes have it set to the default of 5.

what the serial number is, and if you get reports of low audio, let me know that as well.
