Dave
I started with a Don Johnson DK3 screwdriver antenna and operated mobile for years. Have since graduated to HiQ (a top of the line mobile antenna) and operate mobile with it as well. No tuner is required as both types of “screwdriver” antennas IS the tuner. These type antennas are tuned to the frequency you wish to operate, which makes it resonant at that frequency.

I've operated my Don Johnson DK3 while cruising down hiway and while parked. I read an article one time where a guy mounted it on his 2nd floor balcony railing

High Sierra is out of business, but I have talked with others who used other brands of screwdriver antennas mobile too. Maybe there are some brands that “require” operating only while stationary but that’s news to me.

It's my understanding that screwdrivers are only meant to be run stationary. I'm also hoping to avoid having to carry multiple antennas (Ham Sticks).
