Chris,
The FT-100D is a fairly good HF rig. I used one mobile for a few years, as
well as in the shack. The vhf/uhf power module is prone to failure
and the device is obsolete. It's not a good idea to run them at high power
in the FM mode. The FT-100D makes a good SWL receiver and I
added a 4KHz AM filter to it for improved program listening. I wish I had
kept mine.
