Subject: Droid-Star as smart phone based DMR

Max

Our local DMR guru sent me a message about a new Android app called Droid-Star. It's a FREE app that allows an android phone to act as a DMR/DSTAR/Fusion radio. I've only played with DMR but it works!

If you think this might be of interest to HIDARG, please feel free to forward to members. Just talked with KG7AV in Bend as a test. Good report.

Details:

*	Only works with BrandMeister internet accessed talk groups.
*	Download the FREE app from playstore.
*	You must have DMR ID from radioid.
*	You must have BrandMeister account (for password).
*	Go to “Settings” tab to

*	(1) add callsign,
*	(2) DMRID, and
*	(3) password used to access BrandMeister

*	On the “Main” tab

*	(1) click on “Mode” and pick DMR,
*	(2) for “Host” use one of three US master servers like 3103,
*	(3) then pick a Talk Group (TG) that can be accessed via BrandMeister like 31411 in central Oregon,
*	(4) click on “Connect” near top right-hand side.

*	At bottom of “Main” tab see blue for listening (has “tx” in the middle), press and hold (blue turns to red) to transmit.
*	Be sure to check out the “log” tab.
*	Every time you start the app, on the Main tab, have to pick mode (DMR in this case).
